Early boxes are marked 'GENEVIEVE' as a Darracq was the 'star' in the film of that name. Some of the blue boxes date the car as 1894 in error. The film followed the fortunes of two couples in their veteran cars on the London to Brighton Emancipation Run. (See Spyker for the other film car).
Alexandre Darracq started out making sewing machines and the 'Millet' motorcycle before turning to cars in the late 1890's in France.
In 1904 Darracq was the most successful car manufacturer in the world producing 1600 vehicles. The Italian branch factory was the origins of Alfa Romeo.
Alexandre Darracq retired in 1912 having never learned to drive.
